Standards of Conduct

As members of the Vienna Baptist Church Worship Band, we are committed to upholding a high standard of conduct that reflects the values and mission of our church. The following guidelines are established to ensure that our worship band functions cohesively and effectively while maintaining a Christ-centered and respectful atmosphere:

1. Professing Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior:

  • Worship band members are expected to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. This foundation is essential to leading the congregation in worship.

    • "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9 ESV

2. Musical and Spiritual Preparation:

  • Members are encouraged to prepare both musically and spiritually for their roles in the worship band. This includes familiarizing themselves with the selected songs, practicing their instruments or vocals, and spiritual study to lead the congregation in worship effectively.

    • "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men." Colossians 3:23 ESV

3. Commitment to Worship:

  • As worship leaders, our primary focus is to facilitate meaningful and authentic worship experiences for the congregation. Members are expected to place this objective above personal recognition or performance.

    • "But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth." John 4:23-24 ESV

4. Regular Church Attendance:

  • Worship band members are encouraged to be active and engaged members of Vienna Baptist Church. Regular attendance at church services and events fosters a sense of community and spiritual growth.

    • "And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near." Hebrews 10:24-25 ESV

5. Attendance and Punctuality:

  • Attendance at band practices, warm-ups, and other scheduled events is vital for the band's success. Arriving on time and regularly participating in rehearsals and preparations ensures a polished and unified worship experience.

·       "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men." Colossians 3:23 ESV

6. Respectful Conduct:

  • In all interactions with fellow band members, congregants, and church staff, we must exhibit respect, courtesy, and professionalism. Differences of opinion should be handled with love and grace.

    • "Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing." 1 Peter 3:8-9 ESV

7. Ethical Behavior:

  • Worship band members must maintain the highest ethical standards, including honesty and integrity in all aspects of their personal and professional lives.

    • He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?" Micah 6:8 ESV

8. Supportive Attitude:

  • Cultivate an attitude of encouragement, support, and unity within the worship band. Recognize that we are a team with a shared purpose of glorifying God through music.

    • "Let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works." Hebrews 10:24 ESV

9. Continuous Improvement:

  • Embrace a commitment to growth, both musically and spiritually. Seek opportunities for improvement and personal growth in The Lord.

    • "But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen." 2 Peter 3:18 ESV

10. Modest Clothing:

  • Members are expected to dress modestly when participating in church services, rehearsals, and performances. Please consider the sanctity of our worship when selecting attire.

    • “When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom." Proverbs 11:2 ESV

11. Church Membership (Preferred):

  • While not mandatory, church membership is preferred for worship band members. Membership signifies a deeper commitment to the church's mission and values.

    • "So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord." Ephesians 2:19-22 ESV

By adhering to these standards of conduct, members of the Vienna Baptist Church Worship Band contribute to a harmonious and spiritually uplifting environment for all who gather in worship. Thank you for your dedication to this ministry!
